Renesas to Migrate to 65nm System Chips for Mobile Phone in 2008
March 09, 2007
Starting in 2008, Japanese Renesas expects to migrate to 65-nanometer process technology in mass producing system chips for mobile phones. The new 65-nanometer chip, incorporating baseband and application processors, will be the successor to the 90-nanometer SH-Mobile G2, to be released in the third quarter of 2007. In addition to existing 90-nanometer SH-Mobile G1 users Fujitsu and Mitsubishi, Renesas aims to add Sharp and Sony Ericsson as clients for the new 65-nanometer chip.
